João Negrão has been appointed the next Executive Director of the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) at a meeting of the Council of the EU, held on 25 July. He is expected to take up his duties as from 1 October 2023.

The newly appointed Executive Director joined the EUIPO in 2010 as Head of Cabinet of the President of the Office and in 2011 he became Director of the International Cooperation and Legal Affairs Department, where he worked until April 2021.

Over 10 years, João led the expansion of the EUIPO’s cooperation with national and regional EU IP offices, creating the European Union Intellectual Property Network.
